Really?
So i was going through the site Digg.com and caught a very interesting entry. Apparently due to the popularity of the movie Star Wars: A New Hope, some public relations people must have decided that it would be a good idea to use the movie to help spread messages that would benefit everybody. Unfortunately they decided to do this through Public Service Announcements. The finished product is an abomination to the movie I hold so dear. I have only found two so far but I would not be surprised to find out that more exist (possibly even for the later movies). But who knows, maybe they realized the err of their ways after producing these turd nuggets.
Drinking and driving PSA
Holy Crap!!! Who green lighted this? I like how they seemed to actually make the Cantina scene way more ghetto. Wouldn't be surprised if I saw zippers on the alien costumes. I like at :12 that the alien is actually acting a little obnoxious while trying to get another drink. Then at :13 he goes from making his own sounds to imitating a wookie. Could they really not find a better sound than that of one of their main characters. But the icing on this turd cake is the announcer saying "When friends drink too much, even in galaxies far far away ...". Uggghhh.
Smoking PSA
What exactly is R2-D2 doing in the back ... seems like he might be partying from the sounds that I'm hearing at the beginning of this clip. Waiting for him to start playing some Dead or Phish and talk about the notes that they're NOT playing. I like that R2-D2 is sick of being with the hoytie toytie C3PO and decides to rebel by smoking. I would probably start drinking, smoking, whatever if I had to be around the machine equivalent of a prim and proper british douche. R2 must have had enough of C3PO asking if he would "care for some tea govner?" What genius decided that the perfect people to help show the dangers of smoking would be two robots?
So there you have it probably two of the worst things (not counting Star Wars Christmas Special) to be associated with the Star Wars franchise.
